The Future of Us
So one day Emma sets up her new computer and logs onto AOL. She notices a strange program called Facebook. She enters, she sees posts from someone with the same name as her. This other Emma is telling the smallest details of her life. Only one problem, it's 1997 and Facebook hasn't been invented yet. How is this happening, how can Emma see into her future. She drags her best friend and neighbor Josh into the picture. Their relationship has been strained as of late since he tried to kiss her and she rejected him. When they look up his future, he is married to the most popular girl in school, has three kids and a huge house on the lake. He couldn't be more thrilled. Emma finds herself married to a jerk, living in a place she isn't interested in. So she decides to see if she can change the future. And boy can she. Josh is worried that she may inadvertently change his, so he tries to convince her to leave things alone. Not gonna happen. As each of them try and figure out what they really want- is the most popular girl really the one for him?- they may come to find that their futures are with each other. This was such a clever concept for a book. I mean, who wouldn't want to see into the future, right? But what if what you saw was not what you had planned? This book is written with alternating points of view in each chapter- Josh and Emma. There are some clever posts that made me laugh. All in all I really enjoyed this book from two terrific authors. Happy reading my friends!
